Imogen is a final year Social Work masters student who has long dreamed of walking alongside women and their children. Since becoming a mother herself Imogen has realised how both rewarding and challenging that journey can be. Imogen holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Justice Studies and prior to undertaking her masters worked for over 12 years in the corporate and banking sectors. Imogen joined Karinya House in November 2021

“As an ‘under-construction’ social worker I am excited about the real-world experience I will gain by working at Karinya House.

A lot of motherhood is about celebrating wins both big and small. In the same way I celebrate these wins with my own children I look forward to celebrating with the women and children Karinya House walks alongside.

I know there will be bumps in the road for many mothers but I also know that for many women those bumps are made manageable by Karinya House. I am proud to stand in their ranks”.

Imogen has joined Karinya House in the role of Support Worker, as part of the critical team of overnight and weekend support workers who ensure women in residence know there is someone onsite to support them across every hour of every day.   We are so pleased to welcome Imogen to the Karinya Team.
