Thank you to the Capital Chemist Group – Our Community Matters Program for news of their valued partnership with Karinya House, together with continued support from the The Tall Foundation. Recently, Executive Director, Marie-Louise Corkhill welcomed Melita Flynn, Community Program Manager and Roger Tall, one of the original founders of the Capital Chemist Group and, together with his wife Maxeme, the founder of The Tall Foundation. Melita and Roger are pictured here at a recent, and very enjoyable, meeting at Karinya House, with Marie-Louise.

We thank the Capital Chemist Group for their support for Karinya House, and more broadly across the Canberra Region. The Our Community Matters program supports a breadth and depth of community services. More importantly also, the Capital Chemist pharmacies across the Region provide themselves an outstanding level of community care and service. We commend them all, including the particular pharmacies who regularly offer practical and thoughtful support to Karinya House in response to a call for assistance or simply ‘out of the blue’. We have no doubt we only ever just need to call.

We extend our gratitude to The Tall Foundation who have provided philanthropic grants to Karinya House for this current financial year, and the two financial years previous.  As we shared with Roger, the first gift in June 2019 was so very unexpected but came at such a critical time for the organisation. We were in the middle of some very challenging financial sustainability discussions and strategy work at the Committee and Executive Staff levels.  Since then, we have had some positive funding developments both with Government and Non-Government partners, and continued inspiring support from members of the Canberra community.  The financial support of the wider Canberra Region remains vital to us, as a critical part of our funding platform and we thank the Foundation for continued support.

Community based funding is important to us, as it has always been the premise that this funding speaks particularly to the women we walk alongside with respect and recognition.
