On 12 March 2021, on a beautiful morning, Master Builders ACT launched the Strathnairn Charity House, in conjunction with the fabulous Ginninderry Community (who also happen to be fabulous Karinya Partners, themselves!) and Kane Constructions.   Karinya House was both pleased and grateful to be at this event and to be nominated as one of the four charity beneficiaries of the 2021 Charity House. The MBA 2021 Charity House will be a home designed by women, built by women and sold by women.  With the collaboration of Build like a Girl, and  inclusive within all of the Charity Partners, particularly Karinya House, the 2021 Charity House will also support women.

This is the fourth MBA charity house project and as noted by the MBA, “this year not only will the home provide a significant boost to a range of local community organisations, but it will also provide a platform to promote the growing participation of women in the construction sector.”   We thank all the women and corporate partners who are giving their time and talent to this fantastic project.  The gift of land from

We love this article from The RiotACT (also a valued Karinya Partner) about the event in March, hosted by the inspiring Genevieve Jacobs.   As well as this quote from the Ginninderry Community, “It’s not often that you get teary at a building site, but that’s what happened at Ginninderry when a collaboration between developers, builders and the community was launched, exemplifying Canberra’s strong community spirit, close networks and support for our most vulnerable.”

We extend our gratitude also to all project collaborators including:  Mix 106.3 Canberra, The RiotACT and Zango.

We especially thank Committee Member Cassandra Keller, Principal CK Architecture always a Champion for Karinya House and the women we are privileged to journey with. A wonderful feature on the Strathnairn Charity House is presented by Her Canberra, here.

You may not be in the market for a new house, however, you can still support this wonderful collaboration for Karinya House through your donation here.
