Karinya House is pleased to present our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), our second RAP in the organisation’s formal reconciliation journey.

In early 2020, Karinya House began our reconciliation journey with a Reconciliation Statement. In 2020 we took another important step in this process to commence the development of our inaugural Reflect RAP, which was successfully implemented between August 2022 – December 2023. The recently launched Innovate RAP has been developed to build upon our progress and lessons learned during this time.

As an organisation we endeavour to learn and grow from our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to ensure Karinya House is an organisation that is inclusive and non-discriminatory, is an agent for change, and for reconciliation. The Innovate RAP provides a framework within which Karinya House team members are encouraged and supported to participate in this journey. The key objectives of the plan are to:

  • build upon the work undertaken over the last two years and to deepen our knowledge, so we are able to contribute to meaningful actions of reconciliation in our everyday work;
  • drive growth in our individual and collective knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures;
  • encourage our staff team to actively engage in learning opportunities and to evolve their own practice in tangible ways.
  • build upon the relationships that we continue to grow with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and organisations across the local community.

As we undertake this important work, our hope is that we can collectively ensure Karinya House continues to be a place of respect and welcome, which is culturally safe and accessible to all women and children who may require our support.

This Innovate RAP will be implemented between 2024 – 2026 and we look forward to providing updates on our progress along the way.
