Some of the Karinya Team had the great pleasure of being welcomed at the Farrar Gesini Dunn (FGD) offices in Rudd Street this week. What a delight it was! Allie and Georgie were gracious and warm, showing us around and explaining the configuration options of the office space, which we note would be a great location for a cocktail event! As well as supporting case conference and FGD services, the FGD space also provides seminar and workshop capacity, and is able to host the occasional High Tea afternoon, which the FGD team do have on occasion. At Karinya House, the recognition given to the women we walk alongside by the staff at FGD is always evident when we engage wit them.
The reason for our visit was to receive the proceeds of the 2018 Charity Golf Day. To say we were overwhelmed would be a little understated! The amount raised this year was significantly above the stunning amount raised last year. This was then topped off with an additional personal donation by someone visiting the FGD offices – amazing! The total of $17,000 provides over 300 hours of support for women who we are walking alongside. At present there are over 40 women within our service. Women who are part of our community. Women for whom we are their village. The Canberra Region, including our Corporate citizens, are a generous and respectful community. We thank all our partners and friends, and we especially thank FGD for their valued partnership with us since late 2017. We also thank all the event sponsors and participants who contributed to this amazing investment in the lives of some inspiring and courageous women in our community.
To quote from the FGD blog post:
“Yesterday, we had a really lovely moment in the FGD Canberra Office. We had the opportunity to present our friends from Karinya House with a $17,000 donation thanks to our FGD community!
At our Charity Golf Day last month, we managed to beat our personal best and raise $15,000 for Karinya House! A huge thanks to all who attended and our generous sponsors for making this possible. We had planned for Jo, Sarah and Rachel from Karinya House to visit us this week and receive the money but only hours before the presentation, one of our generous clients decided to personally donate $2,000 on top of the $15,000 we already head. To say we are humbled by our FGD community who have helped us raise this money would be an understatement. We feel absolutely privileged to be in a position to give such a deserving organisation some financial support.”
And we agree, it was a very lovely moment in our Karinya day also! Thank you.
