Karinya House announced as inaugural Community Key Partner

We’re thrilled to announce that Karinya House, Home for Mothers and Babies is the Canberra Southern Cross Club’s inaugural Community Key Partner.

Karinya House has been a valuable part of the Canberra Community for the past 20 years, providing much needed support for vulnerable and at risk pregnant and parenting women, including supported accommodation, transitional housing, outreach services and support groups.

So reads the Press Release from our dear Friends and Champions – The Canberra Southern Cross Club.  The full press release can be read here.

The full response, our Executive Director, Marie-Louise is below:

Karinya Response to the CSCC Media Release.

“I am overwhelmed with the magnanimous support of the Canberra Southern Cross Club in choosing Karinya as their inaugural Community Key Partner for three years.

On behalf of the Karinya House Committee, Staff and Volunteers, we acknowledge our long-term partnership with the Canberra Southern Cross Club and their sharing in our purpose of supporting pregnant and parenting women and their children, in crises, over so many years.

In our twentieth year of operation and in endeavouring to meet the financial and resource need of our new Home, the Club’s endorsement of our work with vulnerable pregnant and parenting women and their families is significant.

Our hope is that through the term of this partnership Karinya House may reach its goal of creating a circle of 3,000 Friends of Karinya.  Friends of Karinya are donors who give just $5 simple dollars per week helping 8 dedicated case workers have thousands of conversations a year to assist women who are vulnerable and pregnant.

We thank the Board, Executive and Members of the Canberra Southern Cross Club for this recognition and their significant contribution through this partnership, their innovative community rewards program and the many other forms of community engagement that are part of the social fabric of this great Club.”

Marie-Louise Corkhill

Executive Director
