November 22, 2016
The Annual General Meeting was held today, at the Woden home of our Champion, The Canberra Southern Cross Club. It was a time to reflect on the 2015-2016 year, a momentous year for Karinya House Home for Mothers & Babies Inc. The members present reflected on the year and as one, it was noted: this year marks a new beginning, as we start services afresh from our new purpose built facility. For our supporters, those who have been with us from the early days, those who have joined along the way, this new beginning is a tribute to you all and a wonderful sign of your commitment to your community, and those within who we support through occasions of life’s happenstance. Your continued support in this new era is needed more than ever. We also call on the Canberra community – seeking new Friends and Champions – to join our circle of support – to ensure that this new beginning is one that is sustainable into the future.
Today we welcomed the new Committee – a group of 11 generous community members – who have committed to serve the Association through the Committee. We have again been fortunate to find the Committee comprising of talent, skill and dedication, as well as new energy and passion for the expanded service capacity of Karinya House and the importance this service has in the Canberra and regional landscape. The new Committee comprises:
President – Sarah Kelly, Vice President – Cassandra Keller, Treasurer – Kathleen Buckley, Secretary – Daniela Matic and Committee Members – Marie-Louise Corkhill, Matt Casey, Dave Burnet, Rod Frazer, Amanda Toms, Pierre Huetter and Margaret O’Donovan, who also remains the Public Officer for the Association. You can find out more about the members of the Committee here, with updates pending for Amanda and Pierre.
The Annual Report 2015-16 was tabled at the AGM. We commend the report to you, and in doing so we extend our thanks to Liam Camilleri of Monarch Building Solutions, who provided the design and typesetting on a pro bono basis. We also thank Ailsa and Nicole of AddColour, who printed the reports at a discounted rate for us, at the usual very short notice!
Caseworker Nichola, was present at the meeting to very kindly use her photography skills to take a few photos of the AGM in progress and the new Committee. Pierre and Matt were regrettably absent due to unavoidable commitments arising.
We do hope you enjoy the Annual Report. If you would like a hard copy please do email us. Most importantly in this watershed year, we ask you to continue to support the Committee and the Association, and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to become a Friend or Champion of Karinya House. Our continued thanks to you all.
